-1992 Purchase and Growth In 1991 Greg and Donna Wannemacher acquired the company formerly known as Baumgartner Trucking. President Greg Wannemacher immediately emphasized the importance of making customer service a core value of the newly owned company. In 1992, Baumgartner Trucking began contract trucking to points in Ohio, concentrating mainly in the Lima, Ohio area.
-1997 Name Change and Warehousing Services Added In 1996, Baumgartner Trucking was renamed Wannemacher Enterprises and soon after, in 1997, the current company headquarters at Hanthorn was completed. The 100,000 square foot building allowed warehousing services to become a new capability to complement the trucking services.
Another Warehouse Added and Huge Challenge Presented 1998 proved to be a very important year in Wannemacher’s history. Wannemacher Enterprises reached 500,000 square feet of warehousing space in 1998 as a result of acquiring the Liberty Complex. After a corporate decision by Wannemacher’s largest customer to use a different transportation service provider, Wannemacher was forced to sink or swim. Through difficult times, Wannemacher Enterprises held firmly to the core values the company was built on. By building strong relationships through dedicated customer service, Wannemacher not only survived but continued to grow.
-2003 Packaging Services Added and Hanthorn Road Again Expands In 2002 Wannemacher began providing packaging services to allow another value-added service to customers. Vertical integration of services allowed Wannemacher to transport, warehouse and package customers’ products. As a result of the need for greater space, in 2003 the Hanthorn warehouse was again expanded, this time by 81,000 square feet.
-2006 Another Warehouse Acquisition Plus Another Expansion Wannemacher Enterprises continued its steady growth. The 50,000 square foot Central Point facility was acquired in 2005. In 2006 the Hanthorn facility was expanded by another 70,000 square feet.
-2008 New Warehouse Location Built And Awards Received When one of Wannemacher’s largest customers had product stored at several different locations, the Harding Highway warehouse was built in 2007 to provide 300,000 square feet to bring their product to one location. As a result of this addition, Wannemacher exceeded 1,000,000 square feet of warehousing space. Also in 2007, Wannemacher Enterprises was awarded by the Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce as the “Small Business of the Year” and in 2008 the Truckload Carriers Association presented Wannemacher with the “Best Fleets to Drive For” award. That year Wannemacher was also chosen by the National Association of Braoadcasters as a "100+ Group Finalist" for Wannemacher's public awareness series of "Safe Driving Tips" television spots.
Hanthorn Road Expands To 351,000 Square Feet Wannemacher continued the growth of its warehousing capabilities in 2010 with the completion of yet another expansion of the Hanthorn Road facility. The 100,000 square foot addition brought the total footage of that facility to 351,000 square feet.
Liquid Filling Added To Packaging Services Wannemacher Enterprises expanded outside of Lima, Ohio late in 2011 when the company purchased the Van Wert, Ohio liquid filling facilities of Golden Heritage Foods, LLC, producers of Busy Bee Honey and several private label honeys. The purchase of the plant’s ultra-modern equipment and capacity allowed Wannemacher Total Logistics to add liquid filling to its extensive lineup of contract packaging services while adding another 40,000 square feet to the firm’s more than 1.2 million square feet of warehousing space.
